Haven’t I Seen You Before? – the Downton Abbey Edition

I was watching the movie Matchpoint on Netflex the other evening and thought I saw a character that also was featured in the award-winning PBS (BBC) series Downton Abbey.

Sure enough, IMDb confirmed that the actor who portrays Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton) was also in Matchpoint.  She played Jonathan Rhys Meyers‘ mother-in-law in that movie.

So, just in time for the Season 2 premier of Downton Abbey, here is a brief list of Downton Abbey stars who have also made appearances on the large screen or small screen.

  • Robert Crawley (Earl of Grantham) – Hugh Bonneville appeared as Roland Wise in the TV series “Dr. Who” (2011)
  • Lady Edith Crawley – Laura Carmichael appeared as Sal in the movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011)
  • Mr. Carson – Jim Carter appeared as Barry in the movie My Week With Marilyn (2011)
  • Cora, Countess of Grantham – Elizabeth McGovern appeared in the TV movie “A Room With a View.”
  • Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham – Maggie Smith.  Need I say more? She’s been everywhere for the past 55 years.

While researching this post I learned that several Downton Abbey cast members also appeared together in the British TV series “Dalziel and Pascoe.”

My British readers may want to check the IMDb listing for Downton Abbey‘s cast to see which British TV series and specials the cast members have appeared in.

Enjoy the second season, folks!
